The Fair Work Commission Annual Wage increase for 2018 was determined in respect of the Hospitality Industry (General) Award 2010 on 20 June 2018. The 3.5% wage increases will be applicable to all employers for the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2018.
The Hospitality Industry (General) Award 2010 (HIGA) is applicable to all hoteliers in Victoria. The wage rates and allowance summaries are provided for the information of AHA (Vic) Members in the members section of the AHA (Vic) website.

- 2018 Hospitality Wage Rates and Allowances Guide (as at 1 July 2018)
- 2018 HIGA Adult Wage Rates
Clause 2.2 of HIGA reads – “The monetary obligations imposed on employers by this award may be absorbed into over award payments. Nothing in this award requires an employer to maintain or increase any over award payment” – meaning that any over award payments currently being paid to employees may be off set against the 3.5% per week wage increase effective from 1 July 2018.
For members who employ trainees, the new training wages will be contained within Schedule F5 – National Training Wage, of HIGA.
The Hospitality Industry (General) Award 2010 is being updated to incorporate these wages and allowance increases and a current copy of HIGA will be able to be downloaded from the AHA (Vic) members section of the AHA (Vic) website at www.ahavic.com.au when it becomes available from the Fair Work Commission.
Any member wishing to discuss these rates or who require wage rates for other new modern awards for non-hospitality industry employees should contact the undersigned.
