Under the Liquor Control Reform Act 1998 trading hours have been extended for New Year’s Eve. If you are the holder of a licence type listed below you are permitted to trade until 1am on January 1, 2018.
- on-premises
- late night (on-premises)
- general (for consumption on the licensed premises)
- late night (general) (for consumption on the licensed premises)
If you wish to trade later than 1am then you must lodge an application for a temporary limited licencewith the VCGLR. Please note this may take up to six weeks for the VCGLR to grant, therefore you need to take this into account when you are planning your event on New Year’s Eve.
For further information please click hereor view the fact sheet located here.
This year Christmas Eve also falls on a Sunday night and the VCGLR have not issued a blanket extension to ordinary trading hours. Therefore you will need to apply for a temporary limited licence with the VCGLR if you wish to trade beyond the stated trading hours on your liquor licence.
